Just another day on the farm...

Today the boys went for their first field trip to a little farm in Woodstock. Jammy and Grandy surprised them and showed up to help out! Looks like they had a great time riding some kind of barrel of bovine! Yehaw!!

Bad Dog

This is Polly. She is a bad dog. Last weekend she got into a whole host of food she's not supposed to eat. If you haven't seen the website www.dog-shaming.com (thanks, Pete!) you must go see it. It's a forum to publicly humiliate your dogs when they've done bad, rotten, and unexplainable thing. It's very funny. This is Polly's entry from last weekend. It hasn't been published yet, but I'm hoping it makes it one day!!

Happy # 37, daddie!

Friday was the day Todd turned 37. We know this because the boys keep up with our ages better than we do. He got to celebrate with a surprise visit from the Athens Harris', a HUGE UGA win over the (boo) florida gators, a movie date with his lovely wife, a Sunday full of more football both inside and outside, and the Hallorans all gathered at our house for family dinner. Phew! Loooong weekend! Hope it was the greatest 37th bday yet :0). We love you!!

Stork watch

Nope, not of the McLure-kind. Yesterday we had the Harris FAMILY over for a spend-the-night so they could bring baby Jackson to see us! He is so cute and such a sweet baby, Nolan was in love for sure. We can't get enough of him so we're going to see him again next weekend! Thanks for coming to visit, JB!

Cheesy Girls Trip

Last weekend, Big Al and I trekked from Texas and Georgia, respectively, to go see Ashley and the pregnant state she is currently in. What I didn't expect is how much I loved the area! Ashley lives in Neenah, Wi about an hour and a half north of Milwaukee. Yes, I said north. And yes, it gets coooold up there, but this past weekend made for a promising thought of a return trip. We went to the local dairy farm and had about 100 cheeses to choose from, and altho we only came home with 3, we very well could have bought them out as good as it was. We went for walks around her "pointe" and took in the scenery and ginormous houses in her neighborhood. She lives on Lake Winnebago and the views are breathtaking! Saturday, we toured Lambeau Field to see where the Green Bay Packers play, got to go thru the players tunnel, and try our hand at the Lambeau leap. You'll see the pics below how not-so-well that went for us! With Ash only a few weeks from delivering her bambino, she is so far behind where most first time moms are in regards to the baby's room. That was the main point of the visit, to help her with that. She didn't seem to mind, in a "oh, we have time" sort of attitude...we'll see how that goes for her! Thank goodness Jeremy's parent live about a mile away and are so excited to have their first grand baby, we've enlisted Jeremy's mom to take over and make a cute room for the babe. We can't wait to meet the little tyke!!!

Oh jack-o-lantern, oh jack-o-lantern...

How slimy are your innards! It's that time of year to get out the carving tools and make some cute punkin faces! The boys helped dig out the guts, even though I had to talk them into it and get a bit dirty myself. We only finished one before it was time to get ready for bed, but they were so excite to wake up to the masterpieces you see before you (hahaha! Not really).

Ron Clark Academy tour

Yesterday, my office took a tour of the Ron Clark Academy in southeast Atlanta. Let me sum it up in one word...WOW! Amazing! Inspirational! Ok, that was 3 words, but it deserved more. Ron Clark and his co-founder opened the doors to the Ron Clark Academy to inspire kids to learn and get them excited about being at school. We observed Ron's class and he was jumping up and down on the desks, allowing the kids to do the same and every kid was on the same learning level as the next. And if someone was struggling or needed help with an answer, Ron would be patient to let them figure it out while the rest of the class would cheer him/her on! It was an eye opening experience and I only wish I could have attended this wonderful facility. If you ever have the time I highly suggest a tour of the school to see what it's all about. Our office went because we have done some pro bono braces for a few of his students.

Twin-isms

Whenever Reed wants to tell me something and then can't remember what it was he was going to say he'll say "I lost my voice!". But when he thinks of it later, he says "oh, I found my voice...". Today, the boys and I went on a bike ride at the river and stopped to play on the playground. On the tire swing they kept saying, push us faster and higher! Then Nolan said " whoa!!!! My tummy is tickling!!!" I love what they come up with!

Birthday Pup

Happy birthday, Polly-goose! Holy cow, Polly turned 1 today. I can't believe we've had her already for 10 months and she's been such a good dog. From the depths of south Georgia to Woodstock she travelled and we're so happy to have her part of the McLure Clan! Happy bday, goose-goose!

30 and done!

Wow! What an amazing weekend of walking, crying, eating, talking...and did I mention WALKiNG?!? Team Bresta Fiesta had 30 walkers (the most) and raised over $33,000 (the most)!! It was truly inspiring and humbling listening to everyone's story of how they learned they had breast cancer and how they continue to fight it. Todd and the boys met me at the finish line in Atlantic Station and brought me flowers which brought me to tears. This weekend has put so much into perspective for me. People go through a lot of love, loss, and hardships but it takes a positive outlook and a strong head on your shoulders to get back on top. And sooooo many of these ladies we were walking for this weekend really seemed to be at the top of their game! They were so happy to be alive and surrounded by so many supporters and I was so grateful to be in their presence. What a journey!

Day one of two

This is the weekend of the 2-day walk for breast cancer that our team of 30 people (5 survivors) have been getting ready for all year! So far, we've knocked down 20 of the 30 miles with 10 to go tomorrow. It's been an amazing journey and everyone on the crew has been outstanding and uplifting. Even though I'm exhausted after the mileage walked today (shhh, and ran a little) I'm ready for tomorrow and it's been insanely emotional. What an amazing group of people!!!

Boy Date

Today, the boys and i met Pete and Charlie at the park for a long overdue playdate. The boys had fun, well, being boys and Pete and I got to catch up! Thanks for the sweet flowers, cookies and card to pump me up for our breast cancer walk this weekend, Petey! That was so thoughtful!!
