Back to school, finally!

So after two weeks off, snow, road tripping, and hanging out with friends, the boys finally went back to school. It was also Dr Seuss week so every day was a special event. One day they wore crazy socks, the next we made their hair do crazy things and lastly, the dressed as their favorite Dr Seuss character. Reed was fox in socks and Nolan was the cat in the hat. Yay for back to school!

Fairhope fun-stravaganzaa

This past weekend I took the boys to Fairhope, Alabama for part of their mid February break to see all my best buds from elementary school. We stayed at the all inclusive resort...Hotel KK and were treated lie royalty! She cooked for us non-stop, chased after Ashley's baby (Morgan), provided hours of entertainment and I'm pretty sure she didn't sleep.
We went shopping on Friday to toy stores, clothes boutiques, and lastly a wine bar. I'm not afraid to admit that the boys had a great time in all 3 venues!
Saturday, we went for a long walk to the pier in the bay, played flag football in the yard, and a few brave souls went swimming in KK's frigid pool. Morgan was so exited to see sun and warmth that the chilly poop didn't bother her at all! Mountain Boogie, Ash and Reed were the only 'sane' ones that made their way into the water...Reed swam across the pool twice! Brrrr!
Later that evening, we headed downtown as the little town of Fairhope puts on and awesome family friendly Mardi Gras parade. The way they route the parade, you are able to catch it 4 times because the path they take is a U shape and they double back down. Needless to say, the boys came away with more loot than they know what to do with! I think I can find an appropriate (trash) receptacle around here ;0)
All in all, it was an awesome weekend and the boys want to go every year now. I know Todd wasn't too upset about us leaving because he had a major sinus infection that basically rendered him comatose all weekend.
Thanks, Camp KK!!!

Cleaning up the dawgs!

Last weekend, Todd took the boys to Athens for a quick sleepover and one of the last UGA men's basketball games of the season. Apparently, it was a really exciting game with a 95% sellout but the main attraction was the following...

Yep, getting them ready for their (hopefully) 4 years as UGA bulldogs. People even stopped them to ask where they got their faces painted because they wanted to have it done as well! Love the spirit in these two.

Tonight marked the first time in McLure household history that the boys not only cleared their plates from the table, but loaded the dishwasher, too! Nolan kept asking if there were more dishes to put in the washer. Bright side-- if college fails them, there will always be dish washing jobs!

Snow day...day 3...the white stuff

Finally! Good snow to sled on, make snowmen, and throw snowballs with. At this point, the boys are OVER the snow, but then we got them outside and they had a ball!  However, it stinks that it couldn't have waited until next week when they are off from school. Maybe next year I'll put in a request to Mother Nature.

Snow day...day 2...the ice stuff

Well, well, well, bravo Atlanta! This time we got it right. No one was stuck at school,  spending the night at work, or trying to get some shut-eye on 285. Too bad the precipitation on day 2 was sleeting/freezing/pelting rain/snow and instantly toe-freezing cold. We played for a bit, but these southerners aren't 100% prepared (no snow suits) so we spent a good bit of time inside at home and at neighbors houses. Sledding was still on the menu but snowman building will have to wait until tomorrow.

Snow day...day 1...the wet stuff

Apparently Atlanta isn't taking any chances when it comes to a 'severe storm warning' and will shut down the city at first talk of it. When I came home from work on Monday, these jokers were having a game of baseball in the cul-de-sac. No homework tonight!!!

End the IN(door)sanity

This week was the last week of indoor soccer for the boys, and Todd. I think they really enjoyed continuing to play soccer from last season, but this will probably be the first and last season of indoor. Sadly, there's just not enough interest and it's hard to play real indoor soccer when there are 'out-of-bounds' and no walls to utilize, like in real indoor. The boys wouldn't know much of a difference and I'm glad they enjoy running around like a bunch of hooligans with the occasional kick-score-get pelted in the head- scenarios. Hopefully, Coach Jeff will still be their coach for spring soccer on a regular outdoor soccer field. Go Kicks!

Birthday girl

Today the boys had 3, count them 3, make up indoor soccer games. Jammy and Grandÿ came over to spend the day with us and celebrate Jammy's bday. We watched soccer, went to La Parilla for lunch, played outside all afternoon and had a wonderful salmon/steak dinner at home. We're so happy to have celebrated 70 years young with the greatest Jammy in the world. Happy bday and we hope you had a great day!!
