My heart stopped

Nolan: "mommie! Come quick! My heart stopped beating!
Me:"what are you talking about? If your heart stopped beating you wouldn't be able to talk to me!"
Nolan:"nope, it stopped. I got to get it going again!"
So, he ran laps around the house...not really sure that he knows what his 'resting heart rate' is when he's normally running around ALL DAY LONG!!!

Allatoona days

Today was 'boat day' with the McIntyre's on Allatoona Lake. We love going out on Thursdays with them because it feels like we have the lake to ourselves. The boys had fun tubing, floating, eating and swimming. We were glad we came in when we did because there was a HUGE storm that came along! The picture of us driving home doesn't do it any justice. It was berserk!

3 dentists, 1 rotten tooth

Sunday, Nolan pulled his cheek aside and said " this kinda hurts". At first, we thought it was a tooth coming in under his baby tooth. Come to find out, it was an abscess under a baby premolar that has just had a filling. Apparently, the decay was under the filling and rotted the poor baby's tooth out! So, thank you Jammy and Grandy for starting out taking him to your dentist in Athens. Todd took him the next day to Dr. Makke's office (our family dentist) but Nolan wouldn't let her give him the Novocain shot, so I took him to a pediatric dentist today to give him a little nitrous and yank the sucker out! Phew. That was a long sentence. Dr. Bradberry said he might need to rest a little bit today and take it easy.  That's exactly what DIDN'T happen with this kid!

Naked dog, walking!

If you're from Atlanta, been to Atlanta, or heard of Atlanta, you know that the Varsity has been an icon of the city for decades. There's a smaller one in Athens (and a little less scary) that Jammy and Grandy took the boys to last night. As I'm sure they enjoyed it, Nolan told Grandy he'd rather go to the Taco Stand! That's my boy!

Roller Twin Derby

Yesterday afternoon I took the boys roller skating because they have been asking for it for the past few months. Let me just tell you...it was a LOT like ice skating for them! They were holding my hands so tightly and bearing down a good bit of body weight that my biceps got a really good workout! Reed was ok to go by himself here and there but Nolan kept crying every time I'd leave him to go take reed around the rink. That was fun...not really! After a good 45 minutes of slips and falls and rolling around the rink, they had had it with The Cooler. We found that in the next ice rink over there was a hokey game going on and the boys enjoyed watching some older geezers hit the puck around.

Dia de la papa!

Happy Father's Day to the best pops these twinkies could have ever asked for! We love you :0)
Also, happy Father's Day to Grandy, Poppa, Sean, Burke and all the great dads out there. We think we got the cream of the crop!
And Happy Birthday today to Poppa, to boot!

Lights out, uh huh, tag, tag, tag!

Last night a nasty storm passed through and knocked out our power for about 3 hours. The boys were too wound up to sleep so we went out in the front yard and watched them play 'flashlight freeze' tag with some neighbors. The following picture was all we could see up and down the street.
Just as the power was flickering on and off, Nolan was in the bathroom. When it finally flicked off for the last time, he yelled from the loo 'awe, c'mon! The thunder turned off my light!!'  Too funny!

Graduate!

Monday we set off for the CLEAN lands of Charlotte to see my 'little sister' graduate from Harding University High School. We couldn't have been prouder of her and she was clearly excited to be finished with this hurdle of life. The boys couldn't wait to give her big congratulatory hugs. It was a quick trip, but we're so glad we were there. Congratulations, Frances!!! We love you!

All in a day

Yesterday there were many a happy happenings going on around here. First, the boys played base-pool-ball with some older kids in the neighborhood. Basically, same rules of baseball--someone pitches the tennis ball to someone that hits the tennis ball with their hand and then you swim the bases before getting tagged out. The older boys were so sweet to Reed and Nolan-one purposefully fumbled the ball so Reed could get on 'base' and another hit a 'homerun' and picked Nolan up to swim him around the bases because he wasn't going as fast as everyone else (2x his age!)
When we got home, there were post cards in the mailbox...1st grade teachers! Nolan has Mrs. Blades and Reed has Mrs. Campbell. We don't know anything about them and I'm sure they will be awesome.
Lastly, we took the dogs for a walk.  Well, after Polly took Nolan on a face plant ride through some kudzu, I walked the dogs and Reef walked his fox.

Case of the missing tooth

Reed finally lost the wiggly 'nanny mcfee' front tooth that was dangling around. However, he didn't have it to give to the tooth fairy. Why, you ask? He swallowed it!! Oops!

Bowling boys

Yesterday, the boys (reluctantly--only because they were so tired) spent the night at nana and Poppa's house. Nana picked Wil up so the three of them could bowl away the afternoon. Summer fun!
