Have a Coke and a Goodloe!

Yesterday, Dawn braved the fact that she had 6 kids in tow and took them all to the big city to the World of Coke. Nolan still says carbonated beverages are 'too spicy' and doesn't like them, but Reed would have probably drank a few gallons if she let him! Thanks for taking the kids on such a fun day, sis :0)

Ice cream social

Welcome back to school, kids! Today our neighborhood did an ice cream social to kick off the start of school. (They actually just had the ice cream truck come and give out free ice cream.) Any way you dish it up, the boys couldn't be happier!

All American past time

Last night was around about Mika's bday, so Bob arranged for a bunch of us to go to the Braves game. What an awesome game it was, too! Sell out crowd, fireworks, a big win against the St Louis Cardinals, and Mika's name on the big screen to wish her a happy bday. (I was too late with the pic to get her name in lights, but she was soooooo excited!). The boys had so much fun, they couldn't stand it! We pretty much ate junk all throughout the game which is what probably kept them awake and alert until we left the stadium at 11pm!!! Goooo braves! What was really funny was that we parked near a very interesting street sign...Reed couldn't contain himself!

Peasant dwellings

Yesterday, our old neighbor and good friends invited us over to their parents house for an afternoon dip in the pool. Fortunately for us, it's the small neighborhood with the GINORMOUS houses that used to be home to the likes of Chipper Jones and Usher. They had so much fun in the pool, running around the playset, and then running around the huge house. They were screaming the whole time when they were chasing each other around, thankfully, there were times they were probably a few hundred yards or so away that we could chat and didn't even hear them! I think our house could fit inside of this house about 15 times!! (P.s. the last pic is their pool house...yes, pool house!!)

Hut, hut, hike!

The boys got to meet one of Jammy and Grandy's new neighbor and placekicker for UGA, Marshall Morgan(pictured to the right). The other guy is Cori Barber, freshman punter. To say the least, they were tickled red to get to meet 2 real live UGA football players! Goooo dawgs!

Doh!

Cleaning out our game cabinet this bright and early AM (6 to be precise...thank you, Nolan!) we found a slew of play-doh and Nolan grabbed it and took off. 1.5 hours later, Reed woke up and joined him. Together they played with the stinky, messy goo for another good hour or so. I really thought they were over this stuff but they had so much fun!! Love Sunday mornings!!

A pickin' we will go!

For adventure trips like blueberry and strawberry picking, these are the reasons we love summer! Berry Patch Farms is only about a 15 minute drive from the house and they have over 14 acres of blueberry bushes. We usually go there for the pumpkins in the fall, but today we gathered our 'ranch hands' and put them to work. We collected over 10 pounds of berries between the Martins, Goodloes, Crawfords, and McLure's. I've already made a batch of blueberry muffins!!!

Zoo Atlanta

Last week, the Martin's and the boys and I packed a sack lunch and trekked to Zoo Atlanta, downtown. The last time we took the boys to the zoo, I think they were 2 or 3 years old and all they wanted to do was run on the paths. Needless to say, we were finished viewing everything within an hour or so. This time, they were much more interested in all the interactiveness that the zoo has to offer. We were there from about 10-4, and a good portion of that was cooling off in the gift shops. I gave the boys a spending limit on a souvenir, and when it was time to check out, Reed said "I just can't choose! There's so much good stuff!"  Uh-oh, little shopper boy of the future.
We also got to watch a zoo keeper feed the gorillas, which was really cool! If you can see the close up of the silverback opening his mouth, that's how close we were. Crazy!!

Athens adventure

We met Jammy and Grandy in Gwinette after we got back to Atlanta so the boys could stay with them (2 sleepovers) for a few days while we worked. They went all over A-town feeding goats, lunching at the bar at Locos, Sandy Creek Nature Center and probably spent a good portion in Jammy and Grandy's basement making up all sorts of games. Boys, boys, boys!

River walk and the Hoskins

The 2nd to last day we were in Texas, our sweet friends, Chris, Anita and Romany (and Anita's mom) drove 3.5 hours to spend a few quality hours with us! They are so awesome and I still can't believe they did it!! We love our Aussie mates! We met for lunch and walked around the river walk, saw the Alamo, went thru the Ripley's mirror maze and ended the day in the sprinklers at Aly's house. This was the only day the weather got above 95...not what I was expecting in Texas!!! But I'll take it!!

River house shenanigans

The second day we were in Texas, we packed up and went out to the Mulroy Escape...a house on amazing river property. They have a pool, camper, golf cart, kayaks, frogs to catch, rocks to throw and 4th of July fireworks to set off. The boys got dirty, stinky, caught bugs, ate junk food, and stayed filthy for a few days. They loved it!!!
