Holy 6, batman!

Today ends the bittersweet day of a couple of rambunctious boys being able to hold up their age on one hand. I can't tell you just how excited they were this morning that today is their bday! All the more reason to celebrate as much as possible!! Nolan came in our room at 3am with the news that the tooth fairy left him a 'jackpot' of gum for his lost tooth and someone decorated their room with balloons and streamers! Ok, so I had to fess up to the latter...I can't handle being the tooth fairy, Santa, Sprigster bunny, bellybutton boogers & gershal all the while adding on a birthday angel?!? Nah, that one was mommie and daddie! They get cupcakes at school, dinner out at a fine establishment of their choice (Moe's), soccer practice and probably some sort of bday ice cream treat. Phew! What a day! And it's still a secret that we're taking them camping tomorrow in Kentucky!!! They'll be so excited!!

Keekers turns 11

Happy bday, Keeks! We had a mini family celebration last Sunday for a combined 'kids-born-in-August-bday' shindig. 6th grade! Whoa!

Biking in the 'hood

I love the fact that we live close to some of the boys' best friends that they can bike to and from our house to theirs. And they love it that they can get all the way up the hills without stopping!

Wait, I still have 7 days with my 5-year-olds before they turn 6 and I'm going to soak up as much of it as I can!! 6, whoa-that's all I can say.  

We had the boys bday party today at our park (again and it was their idea) in the theme of Superheroes. It was going to be strictly Avengers but there's just so much batman, Spider-Man, and superman stuff out there, we couldn't leave those guys out! 

There was not ONE single person that we invited that didn't come!!! We were so excited to have new friends, old buddies, and all of the family...it was incredibly awesome and the boys were beside themselves. 

Thank you to all that helped set up, take down, blow up, fill up, make up, and clean up the whole sha-bang. We truly couldn't have done it without everyone!!

Oh yea, and thanks for the silly string in the teeth, NANA!!!!!

Jackpot

The other day Reed let me pull one of his baby teeth out that was hanging on by a string. That night he asked for pen and paper to write the tooth fairy a note. On the note he said 'can I please have a jackpot of gum and my tooth'. Apparently, this pile was enough to be constituted as an official 'jackpot' of gum because he was one happy toothless wonder!

G'braves

Saturday night we went to the Gwinette Braves game at Cool Ray field, despite what the weather conditions were for the day or what the predictions were. Turns out, it was a little humid, but nonetheless a nice night to sit on the lawn and watch some minor league baseball. It was bobble head giveaway that night and when Nolan opened his, he freaked out because it Craig Kimbrell didn't have the correct number on his jersey. I told him it was probably a misprint and that was why they were giving them all out (what the heck do I know?!?). Turns out, it was his number when he was on the G'braves, or so Todd said. 

The Perry's and Jammy and Grandy all joined in on the fun and the boys couldn't have had more fun!! I'm not even sure they noticed there was a baseball game going on in the background. They kept running, rolling, sliding, and slipping down the grassy knoll we sat on. 

Mess hall mates

Yesterday, Zeke's parents had to drop him off in the morning because they had to be to work early. So, the boys got a breakfast buddy! This morning, Nolan woke up and said, "is Zeke here yet?" Oh, no! Can't take 3 boys in the house at all time!!

Hello 1st grade, bye-bye babies :0(

So, the boys are no longer toddlers, babies, infants, or whatever we've called them up until now. They are grade-ified boys that will soon smell of armpits and dirty socks...where did my sweet pumpkins go?!? They're still in there, somewhere and looking all handsome for their first day of school. Reed has Mrs. Campbell and Nolan has Mrs. Blades. Our nice neighbor gave all the kids at our bus stop popsicles when they got home. Pretty much the proverbial icing on the cake of an awesome day! When asked what they're favorite part of the day was, they say 'RECESS!!' Figures....

Waterfalls, wildlife, and wowza!

These are the three things we saw/did today on our last Friday before school starts. 

The boys and i started out at Thumbs Up Diner for a little breakfast, followed by a lesson on why all the dead people were buried in the cemetery next to the restaurant.  Um, because they're dead, does that suffice?!?

The , We picked up the Goodloe Empire and went north to Amicalola Falls to go for a hike. We did the 2 mile loop, and then went another mile (up and back total) to go check out the reflection pond. The 'teams' were in rare form today! Reed and Leah tried to hold hands the entire time...Linde and Nolan tried to hold MY hand the entire time and Keely and Ryan ran ahead and behind, keeping our group together. The falls were beautiful, the trails were well marked, and the wild life we saw was nothing short of unimpressive. Check out that tadpole in Ryan's hands!! And yes, we did see a snake...Ryan was the brave one to take a picture, I wouldn't go near it!!

Then, it was off to Dahlonega to get ice cream, marbles, and in Ryan's case, a new knife.  Oops! Sorry, Dawn! Next time she'll answer her text a LOT quicker!!!

Lastly, we took the kids to Skyzone. It was hard getting pics in this place as the kids were jumping Everywhere!!!

Summer...is...over!

Today the boys went to their meet-n-greet to see their classrooms and friends and meet their 1st grade teachers! 1st grade!! Holy cow!
