Windows, glasses, and surprises

A few weeks ago my windshield got smacked by a rock and began to crack. When I told the boys that someone was going to come fix it, they were upset they couldn't watch the man do it. So, I told them I would take pictures. It was actually pretty cool and he came to my office and replaced it while I worked.

Then, Reed's eye glasses place called and said his glasses were ready to be picked up. He literally RAN to the store because he was so excited. Thankfully, today was his first day to take them to school and he didn't lose them. Score 1 for Reed!

Lastly, Todd surprised the boys at lunch yesterday. He said their faces lit up and they got really excited to see him sitting at the blue tables outside of the cafeteria.

From glasses to passes

Ever since Nolan became a 4-eyed monkey, Reed has had a slight jealous bone and has been begging to get his eyes checked. Thankfully, he hasn't been complaining of headaches, blurred vision, or having trouble operating heavy machinery, we waited until last week to get it done. He saw the frames Nolan had and knew he didn't want those, but something similar. We shopped around for a bit and he finally found the perfect glasses for him. Here we go!

As if glasses weren't enough, the boys topped the weekend off with their first academy tournament at Tramore fields in Marietta. They had two games on Saturday, won the first and lost the second, and then had another game on Sunday that they won. Too bad for the second game loss, that win would have sent them to the finals, but their team played great and they all had fun!  Reed had a few goals and a bunch of saves when he played goal keeper. Nolan was a little nervous but had several assists and and could control the ball better than anyone on the field. Unfortunately, his nerves (and maybe a pinch of heat exhaustion and dehydration) got the best of him and he might have thrown up a little after the second game. He was upset that he had to play goal, which he hates, and more upset that he let a couple of goals in. Onward and upward, right!?! Thank you, Jammy and Grandy for coming to cheer them on!!!

And then dinner at Nana and Poppa's...Nolan and his sweaty hair, Nana teaching the kids how to play left/right/center for money, and then KeeÅ‚y stole my phone and took 106 pictures in about 3 minutes.
Crazy kids...

Squeezing the last drops of summer

Even though it is still technically summer, school has been in session for almost 2 weeks making way for homework, tests, and schedules. However, after the bus drops off, homework and reading are done, it seems there is always time for sprinklers!

One week down, many more to go

Week one of third grade has brought back behavior charts (colors), some of the fun chapter books we were reading last year, and a couple of tired boys. Tuesday night Nolan was so exhausted, he could hardly lift his head to brush his teeth.
Reed, on the other squid head, figured brushing his teeth while wearing a giant squid for a hat was his best course of action. I'm sure both of their teachers would be proud!

Other than that, they have successfully completed the first 2 days of soccer practice on their academy team and loved every minute. They have their first tournament in a couple of weeks and they will be playing on the sub-team within their bigger team called Selacao. Vamos!

3rd what?

Today marks the first day of 3rd grade for these two wild twinkies. 3rd grade. 3rd grade. 3rd grade. Who ever said I was old enough to have 3rd graders!?! I still remember being in 3rd grade and having Mrs. King as my teacher and Ashley Owen as my best friend and wearing my dad's jacket to school one day and shockingly finding a pack of cigarettes in the pocket!  Ah-ha! Now I see where all the shenanigans began in my life. I really need to watch these two to make sure the shenanigans are under control. They're not getting away with anything! (Meniacal laugh...)
Reed has Mrs. Fuss and she's an absolute hoot! Nolan has sweet Mrs. Green. I know they both will love 3rd grade and I'm excited to see where it takes them!
