Today the boys had their awards ceremony and class picnic. If you ask me, it's just fun stuff to pass the time at school instead of doing work! (And the best part of the school year that I can remember!). Reed's class did a variety show beforehand. There were roller skaters, singers, dancers, and Reed and his crew doing an obstacle course. It was really cute as all the kids were really getting into it. Reed won several awards (mainly because Mrs. Havens THE most involved teacher we have come across to date), he won the award for 'going the longest mileage for morning miles'. Every morning she takes the kids outside to do laps around the playground and they keep track of how many they do. Reed did a total of 26 mikes over the course of the year! He also won 'furthest in math'. Usually, 2nd graders are doing multiplication tables and by the end of the year, the average kid is doing up to 6x. Reed had surpassed that and gotten up to division /3! Lastly, he won best joke teller. This kid loves to tell jokes and gets excited when 'this one makes sense!' Great job, Reed! We are so proud of all of your 2nd grade accomplishments!!
Nolan's teacher is as sweet as can be but she's had a lot of personal issues to deal with this year and unfortunately, I think the kids silently suffered. However, if you ask Nolan, he had a great 2nd grade year and is as happy as he ever was! His teacher gave him the award for being the best 'right hand man' because he is always eager to help any way he can. Too true, buddy! We are so proud of the amazing second grader-rising 3rd grader you have become!
And then this happened after dinner...
Two sopping wet boys playing basketball in the rain. And then I hosed them down with the garden hose. First outdoor shower of the summer...and they loved it!!
